So now there’s the Delta variant. Ugh! Will it ever go away? My sister used to refer to an ex as “a cockroach – he just won’t go away.” It’s a surprisingly accurate description of the Covid phenomenon. It’s like the relentless ex that won’t stop calling. We’ve even put in a restraining order (vaccine) and “he” still snickers repeating, “But I love you! You need me.”
Let’s step away for a moment from the irritated, fear-based magnifying glass that this cockroach has plagued on us, TAKE A BIG, DEEP BREATH, and look at the bigger picture:
Covid is actually a catalyst for us humans to realize our eternal aspects of Self (capital S denotes our Higher Selves or Spirit minus the human “ornamentation”).
Just read on… trust me.
What Covid is (energetically/spiritually)…
From the Divine perspective, it appears to target our weakest energy fields. For example, if you struggle with expressing yourself verbally (throat chakra), you might exhibit more of a sore throat. If you lack self-confidence or have weak boundaries (solar plexus), you may exhibit nauseousness. Anywhere we have a “hole” in our auric or energy field, illness can find its way in. This is a theory based on the incongruences with the symptoms themselves in conjunction with the messages I receive. We may not fully understand this now, but I believe we will in time.
What the deal is on the earthly side (“killing” the cockroach)…
We need a giant shoe (ha ha). But it’s more than that. What it boils down to is we are unveiling the wounded aspects of the ego (the “holes”) which are making themselves known so we can heal them. We can’t heal what we can’t see. This is actually broken up into three primary observations.
Observation 1: Anger and fear surges. Anger is an opportunity for growth/change. It’s also like a volcano waiting to erupt. And it’s a natural response when something doesn’t sit well. Such powerful energy can be used in one of two ways – positive action or negative stoking of the fire. Anger is productive when we mold and work with it before throwing it in the kiln. Reflect and journal:
– What makes us most uneasy?
– What makes us the most annoyed?
– What are we trying to control?
The list could be endless right now because we as a collective are OVER IT. Remember that anger when not processed is a stronghold on the heart. And fear is the rope around trust and faith’s neck. How much weight do you need to carry? What/who do you need to release? AND, what effective actions might you need to take to make this change happen?
* Covid is making us feel out of control because there’s no set “end time.” But is it really anyone else’s fault? Why are we blaming? Lots of questions in this segment. Write them down and ask to clear it all (burning the writing speeds up the clearing process).
Part 2: Much of what we are experiencing is ancestral, meaning it’s rooted in belief systems that do not mesh with the evolution we’re experiencing to date. It’s like stagnant, crusty swamp-funk energy that needs a good purifying.
And how do our ancestors still affect us – isn’t that a thing of the past? In a gist, time is like a spiral. So, if we’re at the center of that “snail shell,” our ancestors’ influence is in the outer curves. We feel their frustrations, viewpoints and limitations as ours, but it’s really not – it’s that of an older mindset (oppression, abuse of power, us-them, etc.).
By working with our ancestors to recognize our limiting beliefs, we are stepping into the adulthood of our race… slowly. Honor them, ask them what they need, even if it feels like you’re talking to yourself. You’ll feel/sense it. We need to repeat the single word: UNITY – across time and space. (Watch the movie Coco.)
* Present and past leading to a clearwater future. Covid is allowing us opportune time to look within and to connect with the earth (the bones of our ancestors) to heal across time and space.
Part 3: If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. The cockroach on a societal level is a loathsome creature – it scurries creepily, hides in the shadows, it’s dirty.
But have you ever looked up its spiritual meaning? It’s actually quite synchronous. The cockroach is about perseverance, resilience, resourcefulness, acknowledging difficulties and ridding yourself of what doesn’t serve. It is literally the totem we all need to take on… maybe not in our houses, but you know what I mean.
* Covid is giving us the opportunity to grow a hard shell, to gain insight and address what’s most important to us and clear the rest. It’s also forcing us to analyze how we tend to look outside ourselves when we don’t want to see what’s within. Don’t be afraid of the shadows, the murky. Face them and shake hands – and you’ll see they’re actually just trying to tell you something.
When will things get better?
I wish I could tell you it will all end tomorrow. Oh, how I wish! I will say this is coming to a resolve. Doesn’t feel like it, but it is. Originally, I heard “In the spring” – but it would appear that Covid has thrown off earth-time predictions. We’re at a standstill for a bit. Super frustrating, to say the least, but remember it’s all happening for a reason we cannot yet see. It’s like the giant garbage truck in front of us in the midst of heavy traffic – we just want to get around it!
Covid the cockroach is not killed overnight. But we can change a few things to make our lives more sane, to help shift the swampy energy, while we wait… patiently.
Steps to Healing that Start with Us:
Step One: Release the fear and judgment. Breathe in “calm, peace” and breathe out “fear, judgment.” 3 times is a good number. Or set an intention everyday or weekly of what you want to release and what you want to bring in to fill that void.
Step Two (correlates to Observation 1 above): Who’s pissing you off, to put it bluntly? Why? Write it down. Any grievances you have, get rid of them. Clear it. Ho’oponopono it. Anyone who is making you angry, who you can’t stand, who drives you crazy is your teacher; they’re showing you some aspect of you that needs to be cleared. If there is no energetic “hook” within you, nothing can bite.
Step Three: Moving forward, read this blog: https://jessicamangum.com/fill-the-mind-with-good/. Be consistent with your spiritual practice – consistency and perseverance! Fill and surround your mind, body and spirit with activities, visuals, food, people who make you feel good.

Sending love and gentle words of peace,
